We're a little bit different here at Youth Interventions.
We know that one size doesn't fit all, and we welcome your individuality and personality. We understand that when we work alongside you, we have to take the time to get to know you and build a mutually respectful relationship where you can feel safe and listened to. We have years of professional and lived experience that we bring to the table. All you have got to do is walk through the door - and that first step will be the most difficult, yet rewarding thing that you do.
So how can we help you? We're not only trained in helping you make positive changes and manage big emotions, we're also a very down to earth bunch who are practical, pragmatic and have a good understanding of the needs, moods and natures of young people, and all of the stuff that you go through. This stage of you life is known as Storm and Stress - because there is so much going on in your development and your life. It's a fantastic period of growth.
When you come to meet with the Y.I. Team, from the start you'll feel that you're in an accepting and judgement free zone.
We're interested in getting to know who you are, not the behaviours that have brought you here.
We've worked with young people who have been struggling with all sorts of different things, at various times of their lives:
and any other presenting emotional/mental health issue.
We've helped young people navigate their way through these difficult times, equipping them with the tools that they need to make positive changes in their lives and become more emotionally empowered.
We're here for you. Let us walk with you for a while.
“Adolescence represents an inner emotional upheaval, a struggle between the eternal human wish to cling to the past and the equally powerful human wish to get on with the future.”
Louise J. Kaplan.
The transition from being a child who is dependent on others to provide for your every need, into an autonomous adult, responsible and accountable for your own choices, decisions and actions is fraught with many challenges as your “new” identity forms.
There are so many changes happening in your world:
It’s a time of rapid growth and often that can cause you to feel confused, pulled in different directions and uncertain. Each of you will have different experiences and life stories to share, and sometimes, when the journey gets a rough, it’s useful to have a sounding board to run things past.
That’s what we do here at Youth Interventions.
We work collaboratively with you, helping you to manage overwhelming emotions and to identify the areas of your life where changes have to be made.
It sounds pretty simple – but simple isn’t the same easy and we understand that.
Coming in to say hello might feel pretty scary, and while we can’t promise to make everything better, we can promise that you will feel safe and comfortable here.
