Emotional Wellbeing

The Y.I. team work with young people during times of emotional distress.  Using counselling skills and psychological strategies we help young people during periods of their lives when they feel like life is unmanageable, to embark on a journey of both change and acceptance.

The Youth Interventions team work collaboratively with young people during difficult times of their lives.   When it feels like life is unmanageable, young people often respond by displaying negative or maladaptive coping behaviours.  It makes perfect sense when you think about it.  When we cry, it soothes our central nervous system and we get relief.  Young people find different ways to get some respite from emotional/mental health problems.  The problems arise when these coping strategies actually cause them even more harm.

Using psychological strategies and counselling skills, we work alongside young people to identify these behaviours, and to make positive changes in their lives so that they become more empowered and better able to lead psychologically healthy lives.

Using an integrative style of different modalities, we work one to one with young people, creating a safe space where they are able to navigate their way through this time of storm and stress.
